Explore the Swiss Alps in virtual reality
An immersive experience to discover Switzerland's trails, glaciers and alpine villages — as if you were really there.
A bridge between digital innovation and the Swiss mountains
IubarMontisVR was created to showcase the Swiss alpine landscape through virtual reality, letting you explore natural environments, trails and panoramas in an immersive, realistic way.
The project combines VR technology, 360° imagery and 3D environments to offer an experience that previews the real journey, helps you plan your hikes, or simply lets you discover the region from afar.
-
Scout before you go Get to know the mountains before visiting them in person.
-
Unreachable places Explore glaciers and ridges that are hard to reach on foot.
-
Every season Experience Swiss landscapes at any time of year.
-
Sustainable Get closer to the mountains in an innovative, low-impact way.
Virtual reality as a window onto the Alps
Using 3D reconstruction, photogrammetry and digital modelling we recreate authentic Swiss landscapes — trails, forests, villages and mountain huts — to experience first-hand.
Put on the headset
Slip on the VR headset and let ambient sound, dynamic light and graphics modelled on real places create a genuine sense of presence.
Choose your destination
Pick the route you want to take: a forest trail, a high-altitude walk or a visit to an alpine hut.
Move and explore
Move freely through the 3D environment and interact with what surrounds you, powered by an advanced real-time graphics engine.
An alpine country from north to south
From the glaciated summits of Valais to the granite valleys of Ticino, Switzerland packs 48 peaks above 4,000 metres, more than 1,500 lakes and four national languages into a small space. A territory that changes character every few kilometres.
Valais
Canton of ValaisThe realm of the four-thousanders: the Matterhorn above Zermatt, the UNESCO-listed Aletsch Glacier and the Walser villages of Saas-Fee.
Ticino
Canton of TicinoThe alpine south: the emerald waters of the Verzasca, the waterfalls of Val Bavona and the stone hamlets of Valle Maggia.
Grisons
Canton of GrisonsThe largest canton: the Engadine plateau, the Bernina massif and the Swiss National Park, the oldest reserve in the Alps.
Bernese Oberland
Canton of BernThe north face of the Eiger, the Jungfrau and the Mönch, and the Lauterbrunnen valley with its seventy-two waterfalls.
Uri and the Gotthard
Canton of UriThe hydrographic heart of the Alps: the Schöllenen gorge, the Furka Pass and the historic roads of the St Gotthard.
Glarus
Canton of GlarusThe Sardona Tectonic Arena, a UNESCO site where alpine geology is legible to the naked eye, and the Klöntalersee.
Central Switzerland
Lucerne, Schwyz and UnterwaldenRigi and Pilatus looking out over Lake Lucerne, where the Confederation was born.
Appenzell
Appenzell and St GallenThe ridges of the Alpstein, the Seealpsee set between rock walls and the panoramic summit of the Säntis.
